This LED TVs give to us some advantages, good reviews already proving the quality of this product, like this :
1. Could have been perfect
(Note, I am ranking this TV 3.5 stars)
I have a Sony 46" XBR3 but have been dying to upgrate to at least a 60". So when I see Samsung has two 65"ers in their 2010 line up (the 6500 and the not-yet-released-at-this-time 8500), I knew that I have to get one of them now.
First a few disclaimers on my purchase decision:
1. I only want to buy a LED LCD from Sony or Samsung--it's a personal thing. No Plasma/regular LCD/projector. So there aren't that many choices
2. Ideally I would have bought a local-dimming LED LCD since it will have the best contrast/dark level. But it's not available for 60"+ and I don't see it in the horizon in the next 18 months.
3. I hang the TV on the wall and only use the TV for display only. So all the other bells and whistles on sound--I don't care and won't review here
4. while 3D can be cool, I think it's over-hyped and doesn't worth another $500-1K for the 8500. I also need the TV now so 6500 it is!
5...
2. Beautiful, but one serious flaw
I purchased this TV without doing any research at all (which is unusual for me), just walked into the store and took one look at this beauty and knew it was coming home with me. Unfortunately, I should have done my research.
Don't get me wrong, the television is beautifully assembled, looks phenomenal wall mounted and has a fabulous picture. The thing is, it has these "white spots". Yes after about 5 minutes of watching I noticed during the bright scenes there were at least 5 spots about 1 cm in diameter each, located at the middle top and bottom of the screen, and also in the top left corner. The spots at the bottom of the screen almost looked like they could be related to the screw position for the stand (this was wall mounted though), but spots were also present on the top of the TV in the middle and top left. I decided my panel was defective. But I went into 2 other stores and their display models had the exact same "white spots"! Even though they aren't visible...
Need more appointment... ? let's see this reviews :
Big and Beautiful
This TV needs more reviews! I would give the tv 4.5 stars, not 5. I got it a couple weeks ago now. Overall it is an awesome TV, beautifully designed. Picture quality in HD and Blu-ray is amazing. SD is perfectly acceptable. The streaming movie internet apps are cool. Inputting text is a bit clunky however. Can't seem to get the facebook to work. Speakers are kinda sucky but you have to expect that on such a thin TV--got to get a home theater set up. There is a bit of light leak at the 4 corners of the TV, but again I think you kind of have to expect this on such a large LED edge lit tv. It can definitely be minimized with adjusting the picture settings.
If you want the biggest TV you can get without being really rich, this is the one to get. :)
Cheers.
